My Thoughts

Ms Chaney, I am a friend of Rick's from college (Lowell).  I had fallen out of touch with Rick for just a few years... sadly, at the time he passed.  So, I didn't find out about it right away and never had a chance to pay my respects.

Finding this website was wonderful.  You've done a marvelous job!  And please accept my extremely belated sympathies.  Also, please know that Rick touched me very deeply.  Though we fell out of touch, we were extremely close friends.  We were roommates at off-campus apartments for several years.  I managed out intramural softball team, of which Rick was an avid participant; and Rick coached our intramural volleyball team on which I played.  We graduated in the same class, in meteorology, together.  We shared a passion for music and deep theological and philosophical discussions.  (In fact, to this day, I still have some records Rick gave to me!)

We were the best of friends and Rick was a spectacular, wonderful, caring, loving, hysterical funny, beautiful person.  He is missed dearly & I regret falling out of touch with him and not having a chance to pay my respects in a timely manner.

Thank you for sharing Rick's life with us through this web site.

In God's Hands / Dianne A voice for those that could not speak You answered their silent call. You put your heart out for the very weak By standing so very tall. On your knees you prayed for life With the strongest of devotion. Head on you faced this strife With loving, heartfelt emotion. Your heart cried in silent pain How to stop this affliction. Pray to God to remove this stain By the power of your conviction. The life of those so innocent You fought so hard to save. All the countless hours spent All yourself you gave. You're truly inspirational For everything you do. The world would be sensational If others aspired to be like you. A man like you is very rare Unwaivering beliefs, your stand. A heart who loves beyond compare, Surely holding Our Lord's Hand.

A mothers only son Such a beautiful boy A smile was always there, A laugh not far away You were the perfect son, A gift to all you knew, A treasure in our lives Young man so full of life, A stranger, he never met, How do I let go of such a gift. It's hard to be the one left, The days all roll to one, I just know that you're alive, You now walk with Gods son Five years ago today. It still seems like yesterday God give me strength to carry on Without my only son.

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today you were laid to rest, seems like it was today.

     TEARS

If tears could build a stairwell
and memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken
no time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness,
and secret tears still flow,
What it means to lose you,
no one will ever know

Memorial Poem

We do not need a special day to bring you to our minds.
The days we do not think of you are very hard to find.
Each morning when we awake we know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache as we try to carry on.
Our hearts still ache with sadness and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you no one will ever know.
Our thoughts are always with you, your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly; in death we love you still.

There will always to be a heartache, and often a silent tear.
But always a precious memory of the days when you were here.
If tears would make a staircase, and heartaches make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven and bring you home again.
We hold you close within our hearts; and there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again.
Our family chain is broken now, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
